Perbezaan dialog Malaysian ngan Britons walau maksudnya sama. Maklum, orang Malaysia tak suka membazir perkataan! Dialog ini diberi dalam kelas bahasa inggeris.
ASKING SOMEONE TO MAKE WAY:
Britons: Excuse me, I'd like to get by. Would you please make way?
Malaysians: S-kews!
WHEN SOMEONE OFFERS TO PAY:
Britons: Hey, keep your money. I'll pay for the meal.
Malaysians: No-nid
WHEN ASKING FOR PERMISSION:
Britons: Excuse me, do you think it would be possible for me to enter through this door?
Malaysians: (While pointing at the door) Can or not?
WHILE ENTERTAINING:
Britons: Please make yourself at home.
Malaysians: Don't be shy
WHEN DOUBTING SOMEONE:
Britons: I don't remember you giving me the money
Malaysians: Where got?
WHEN DECLINING AN OFFER:
Britons: I'd prefer not to do that, if you dont mind
Malaysians: Doe-waaan
WHEN DECIDING ON PLAN OF ACTION:
Britons: What do you propose we do now ...
Malaysians: So how?
WHEN ASKING SOMEONE TO LOWER THEIR VOICE:
Britons: Excuse me, but could you please lower your voice, I'm trying to concentrate over here
Malaysians: Shaddap lah
WHEN ASSESSING A DIFFICULT SITUATION:
Britons: We seem to be in a difficult situation at the moment
Malaysians: Die-lah!!!

ReplyDeleteMemang kasar/tidak beradab. Tapi uncle perhatikan yang lebihnya adalah cina malaysia. Kalau dari lidak melayu ada lagi sedikit kelembutan kecualilah yang tidak fasih berbahasa inggeris.
Satu orang kita sekarang sudah dipengaruhi gaya cakap orang amerika. Kononnya nak jadikan ringkas dan subutan pun lebih mudah.
